PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightning suppression type lightning arrester which performs discharge in a determined portion and improves durability by preventing discharge between edges of two electrode bodies while attaining device downsizing.SOLUTION: The lightning suppression type lightning arrester comprises: an upper electrode body 2 and a lower electrode body 3 which are substantially bowl-shaped; an insulator 4 for coupling the electrode bodies in an insulation state while interposing a predetermined interval therebetween; and a support member 5 which is mounted in the lower electrode body. The insulator 4 includes: a cylindrical part 4a which is coupled to an edge part of the upper electrode body 2 and an edge part of the lower electrode body 3 and covers the edge parts; an annular flange part 4b which is provided in an inner circumference of the cylindrical part 4a; and a cover part 4c which is provided in an outer circumference of the cylindrical part and covers the outer circumference of the cylindrical part. The cylindrical part is fitted at an upper edge part and a lower edge part of the cylindrical part into annular grooves 2a and 3a which are formed in the upper electrode body and the lower electrode body and in the fitting part, in at least one of both the electrode bodies or the cylindrical part, a non-contact part is formed for the other, and both the electrodes and the cylindrical part are fixed by an adhesive filling the fitting part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
