PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer capable of securing good liquid crystal orientation property, excellent in voltage retention property and capable of suppressing seizure, a liquid crystal orientation agent, liquid crystal orientation membrane and a liquid crystal display element.SOLUTION: There is provided a polymer consisting of polyamic acid obtained by reacting a diamine component containing diamine represented by the following formula [1] and a tetracarboxylic acid derivative, polyamic acid ester or polyimide obtained by dewatering cyclization (imidization) of the polyamic acid and/or polyamic acid ester. [1], where Ris a binding group selected from a group consisting of an ether bond, a thioether bond, an amide bond or an alkylene group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an alicyclic hydrocarbon and an aromatic hydrocarbon, formed by 1 to 10 carbon atoms and when Rcontains a carbon atom, a hydrogen atom binding to the carbon atom may be substituted by at least one selected from a group consisting of a halogen atom, a halogen-containing alkyl group, a hydroxyl group and a carboxyl group. |
