PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase medium detection accuracy.SOLUTION: A paper currency reception/payment unit 10 of an automatic teller machine 1 has a detection part 50 disposed in a reception-payment section 12, so that a detection light L1 is moved in a generally vertical direction in a housing space 12S. With this, the paper currency control unit 11 of the paper currency reception/payment unit 10 detects an existence of paper horizontally placed paper currency BL1. Based on the detection result, an outer shutter 5A and an inner shutter 36 are opened, and the horizontally placed paper currency BL1 can be taken out or can be fed into the housing space 12S again in a proper posture.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
