PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming system that are capable of highly accurately matching the relative image position accuracy of a front surface and a rear surface.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a sheet feeding part; an image forming part; a first sheet conveyance part 37 that includes a pair of resist rollers 38; a sheet inverting part; a second sheet conveyance part; a sheet side end position reading part 80; a sheet side end position storage part 97; a side registration correction mechanism part 70 capable of moving the pair of resist rollers 38 in the direction perpendicular to a sheet conveyance direction Y; and a main body control part 90 that calculates the amount of movement of the correction mechanism part. The sheet side end position reading part 80 detects a sheet side end position P1 on a first surface of a sheet S and also detects a sheet side end position P2 on a second surface of the sheet S inverted.
