PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular image recognition system and a method for recognizing an image in a vehicle.SOLUTION: Included are at least two camera units 3-1 and 3-2 each of which records an image of a road in the vicinity of a vehicle and feeds image data which represents the image of the road, a first image processing unit 5 that combines the fed image data items to form a first upper observing point image 6 that is matched to a road image plane, a first feature extractor 7 that extracts a line from the first upper observing point image, a second feature extractor 9 that extracts an optical flow from the first upper observing point image and a second upper observing point image 11 which is produced by the first image processing unit prior to the first upper observing point image, and a curbstone detector 12 that detects a curbstone on the road on the basis of the extracted line and extracted optical flow and feeds data representing the detected curbstone.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
