The method involves placing a number of stacks of radioactive nuclear waste packets (20) on one another at a work station (11) placed at an inlet of an elongated area. A transfer carriage (18), which is displaced on rails placed in a longitudinal trench (19) of a storage cell (10), is used to lift the stacks of the packets for transporting the stacks of the packets to a final storage place. A table is used for accompanying the stacks of the packets during placement of the stacks of the packets. An independent claim is also included for a system for storing and discharging radioactive nuclear waste packets.
