PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage of a furnace wall by removing repeated heat stress generated in the furnace wall upon drop of slag in a coal gasification furnace or the like.SOLUTION: A protector of a furnace wall of a slag hopper of a combustion furnace includes a protective wall provided inside the furnace wall so as to cover at least a part of the furnace wall. The protective wall is supported by the furnace wall in a partial region in the height direction of the protective wall, and the protective wall has a free end unfixed to the furnace wall in a residual region excluding the partial region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
