The thickness dimension h1 of a spur gear 45 along the axial direction thereof is configured so as to be hidden by a gear case 41 when the gear case 41 is viewed from the direction orthogonal to the axial direction of the spur gear 45, and a gear cover can therefore be restrained from touching the spur gear 45 when the gear cover 42 is installed in an opening 41c of the gear case 41. The assembly of a wiper motor 15 can thereby be enhanced, and yield can be improved. The thickness of the spur gear 45 can also be reduced, the size and weight of the wiper motor 15 can be reduced, and the specification of the wiper motor 15 can be simplified for use in a non-snowfall area.
