PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short arc type flash lamp with a built-in reflector capable of obtaining high light utilization efficiency while presenting functions of a trigger probe.SOLUTION: A short arc type flash lamp includes: an insulative shell including a reflection plane that is opened forwards and curved in a recessed shape; a window member that closes the opening on a front face of the shell; a metal base coupled to a rear side of the shell; and a first electrode and a second electrode which are disposed oppositely to each other in a discharge space. The short arc type flash lamp is configured by air-tightly encapsulating a discharge substance. The first electrode is formed by disposing a metal pipe and a metal rod that is inserted into the metal pipe, while interposing an insulation layer therebetween. One of the metal rod and the metal pipe functions as a discharge electrode and the other of the metal rod and the metal pipe functions as an auxiliary electrode for initiation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
