PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection device for a union nut joint, capable of preventing drop or removal of a pipe and drop of a metal fitting, and approaching the union nut joints and connecting them to each other by a simple work, and a connection method using the same.SOLUTION: There are provided a connecting pipe 10 inserted into its opposing receptacle part and an engagement member 20 having a pair of engaging parts 22, 22 engaged with opposing union nuts 4, 4. The connecting pipe 10 has an abutting part 12 abutted against each of openings of the opposing union nuts 4, 4. The engagement member 20 is composed of a pair of arc-shaped members 21, 21 fastened and fixed at one end with fastening means 29. An opening angle θ between the other ends 21z, 21z of the pair of fastened and fixed arc-shaped members 21, 21 is less than 180°. The pair of engaging parts 22, 22 are oppositely arranged along a longitudinal direction of the arc-shaped member 21 to form a recess part 23 therebetween.
