A tool body (11) is configured having, in order from the front side thereof, a drive part (13), a handle part (15), and a battery mounting part (17). A rechargeable battery (90) is mounted to the battery mounting part (17) in sliding fashion. A brushless DC motor (22) rotatably drives a motor shaft (25) using electric power from the rechargeable battery (90). A reduction gear unit (32) is provided for reducing the speed of rotational driving of the motor shaft (25) and transmitting the rotational driving of the motor shaft (25) to an output shaft (35) to which a grindstone (B) is attached. The relationship in which the brushless DC motor (22) and a reduction gear (332) of the reduction gear unit (32) are arranged is due to a configuration whereby the rotational axis (X) of the motor shaft (25) and the rotation axis (Y) of the output shaft (35) are parallel to each other. A disc grinder (10) thus configured makes it possible to precisely apply the rotating grindstone (B) to an object to be processed. |
