<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support system that enables a user to instantly and accurately recognize an unclear object displayed in a captured image. <P>SOLUTION: A driving support system 1 comprises: a camera 3; a processing apparatus 4 including a storage unit 5 and a CPU 6; and a monitor 22. When the CPU 6 detects an obstacle 11 by using a processing image 9 generated from moving pictures captured by the camera 3, it sets a targeted region 16 obtained such that the processing image 9 is used as an image 13 to be processed and the obstacle 11 is used as a basis in the image 13 to be processed. When the diameter R of the targeted region 16 is less than the diameter Rc of a switching region, the CPU 6 enlarges the targeted region 16 to an enlarged region. When the diameter R of the targeted region 16 is equal to or greater than the diameter Rc of the switching region and less than the diameter Rm of the enlarged region, the CPU 6 enlarges the targeted region 16 at a predetermined magnification to generate a scaled image 19. The CPU 6 combines the scaled image 19 and the image 13 to be processed to generate and output an enhanced image 14 to the monitor 22.
