<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make compatible the securement of the quality of a processing surface and the reduction of processing cost when carrying out sphere generating processing to a glass molding that is formed of an optical glass material weak for chemicals. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method for processing a glass material including a curve generating process for grinding the surface to be processed of the glass molding into a spherical shape by allowing a cup grinding wheel that is rotated to abut on the glass molding formed of the optical glass material weak for chemicals, i.e., a glass material and also optical glass, and an electrolytic in-process dressing process for carrying out electrolytic dressing to the cup grinding wheel by applying a voltage between the cup grinding wheel and the opposite electrode of the cup grinding wheel while supplying conductive grinding liquid therebetween during performing the curve generating process. In the curve generating process, the number of the rotations of the cup grinding wheel or the number of the rotations of the cup grinding wheel and feeding speed of relative position movement in the abutting pressure variable direction of the glass molding and the cup grinding wheel are set to be higher than the case that grinding is carried out to a glass molding formed of a glass material other than the optical glass material weak for chemicals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
