Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for synchronizing quantum data start points between a transmitting device and a receiving device in a quantum key distribution system. According to an aspect of the present invention, a method for enabling a receiving device and a transmitting device of a quantum key distribution (QKD) system to determine start points at which a quantum key distribution protocol commences is characterized in comprising: a process of measuring a modulated optical pulse sequence of a specific pattern which is periodically transmitted from the transmitting device via a quantum channel, wherein the modulated optical pulse sequence of a specific pattern includes a specific quantum signal only at a specific time point within one period; a process of determining whether periodicity of the measured result satisfies a preset statistical condition, wherein the statistical condition is that the number of occurrences of measurement events of the specific quantum signal at a specific time point within one period should reach a preset number; a process of, when the statistical condition is satisfied, transmitting an acknowledgement signal to the transmitting device; and a process of determining a time point, which has elapsed from the time point at which the statistical condition is satisfied by a preset time period, as the start point. According to the present invention, before a quantum key distribution protocol commences or when a problem occurs in the quantum key distribution system, the start points of quantum data can be synchronized by performing a software-based logic, and therefore, errors or losses in the quantum signal due to a strong synchronous signal can be prevented. |
