The method for measuring the vertical migration of the femoral head involves X-ray imaging of the hip joints in the supine position followed by drawing Hingelreiner line and locating the center of the head. Then the additional horizontal line G is drawn through the upper angles of. The AB/CD ratio is calculated wherein AB is the line connecting the center of the head and horizontal tangent G, CD is the line connecting Hingelreiner line and tangent G. The ratio above 53 % characterize the vertical migration of the femoral head.
