PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety traveling device for solving problems in which a wheelchair retreats when climbing a slope in the wheelchair and a user stops its motion, however a conventional retreat prevention device cannot be operated easily, and also a sharp turn is not made in the turning.SOLUTION: A traveling safety device of the present invention includes an engaging teeth member mounted to a drive wheel, a swinging claw member provided in the vicinity of an armrest, and an operating lever arranged up of the swinging claw member. The traveling safety device swings the swinging claw member by the operating lever, and changes an engagement state of the engaging teeth member and the swinging claw member, and thereby the retraction when climbing a slope is prevented. Further, a drive wheel can be braked by the operating lever. Also, the traveling safety device of the present invention has the engaging teeth rotating along with a differential case in the differential gear, and a swinging claw arranged to the engaging teeth, and also is connected to the axle of the left and right drive wheels, and therefore is superior in turning performance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
