PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a posture holding device capable of reducing a burden on an operator when releasing rotation regulation of an arm part.SOLUTION: A posture holding device comprises: a main body part; an arm part 17 attached to the main body part in a freely rotatable manner; a worm gear 46 connected to the arm part 17 and rotated with a rotation shaft 32, which serves as a rotation axis of the arm part 17, as a center; a one way clutch 33 that is interposed between the arm part 17 and the worm gear 46 and that regulates a relative rotation direction of the arm part 17 with respect to the worm gear 46 in a first rotation direction; a motor 44 that transmits to the worm gear 46 drive force for rotating the worm gear 46 to the main body part in a second direction opposite to the first direction; and a motor control part that switches a rotation of the worm gear 46 by the motor 44 and a stop thereof.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
