PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle drive device having a speed reducer which dispenses with a ring gear and thereby capable of being diametrically reduced.SOLUTION: There is provided the vehicle drive device for use in a vehicle that comprises: an engine arranged in such a manner that the axial center thereof extends in a vehicle width direction; a transmission coaxially connected to the engine; differential gears connected to the transmission; a first drive shaft extending from the differential gears toward the engine in the vehicle width direction; and a second drive shaft extending from the differential gears toward a direction opposite to the engine in the vehicle width direction. The vehicle drive device: includes a motor arranged around the first drive shaft; and a speed reducer arranged around the first drive shaft and between the motor and the differential gears. The speed reducer comprises: a first sun gear: a second sun gear connected to the ring gear of the differential gears; a pinion gear connected to both the first and second sun gears; and a carrier supporting the pinion gear. One of the first sun gear and the carrier is fixed, and the other is connected to the motor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
