PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the deployment behavior of a region which protects the passenger's head in an airbag.SOLUTION: In a vehicle side airbag device 10, gas generated from an inflator 26 is blown from an upper communication port 38 of a tether 24 to an upper section of an airbag 20, and blown from a lower communication port 40 to a rear inclined section 52 of the airbag 20 along a lower edge section 20D. The rear inclined section 52 is configured from a lower-end-side region of a front edge section 20A of the airbag 20 and extends obliquely upward and rearward of a vehicle from a lower end 52A to an upper end 52B in a state in which the airbag is inflated and deployed. This rear inclined section 52 can direct gas G2 blown from the lower communication port 40 obliquely upward and rearward of the vehicle. It is thereby possible to prevent a force in the direction of a vehicle front side by the gas G2 from acting on an upper side of the front edge section 20A, so that it is possible to suppress the upper section of the airbag 20 from vibrating in a vehicle front-rear direction by the force in the direction of the vehicle front side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
