PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter capable of reducing the electric resistance of an earth circuit and having excellent initiation performance, while reducing the possibility of melting caused by local increase in current density.SOLUTION: A starter 1 comprises a mag switch 2, a pinion body 3, and a motor 4, and is configured so that the pinion body moves toward a ring gear 7 when the mag switch is energized. In the starter 1, the motor has an armature 10 comprising a commutator 9. A bottomed cylindrical integral structure 19 is provided at an outer periphery of the armature. The integral structure is disposed between a rear cover 13 and a gear case 20. A magnet 16 is provided at an inner periphery of the cylindrical part of the integral structure. A positive electrode brush 22 and a negative electrode brush 23 are provided on the rear cover side bottom face of the integral structure. The positive electrode brush and the negative electrode brush are slidably pressed against the commutator, respectively. The positive electrode brush is electrically connected with a terminal of the mag switch. The negative electrode brush is electrically connected with the bottom face of the integral structure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
