The device (1) has an ultrasonic detector (10) for transmitting and receiving an ultrasonic signal towards/from an object. A lug (20) supports a side of the detector for converting a mode of the ultrasonic signal. Waveguides (30) are arranged between the lug and the object for guiding the transmitted/received ultrasonic signal. A beryllium and/or aluminum oxide coating layer (40) is formed on exterior surfaces of the waveguides, where waveguides are made of a stainless steel sheet.
