The device transmits and receives communication messages from communication network. A reception quality indicator associated with each received message is determined. The reception quality indicator is stored and notification messages transmitted by other gateway devices of reception zone are received. A master gateway device is defined based on reception quality indicators of gateway devices situated in reception zone of transmitted messages. The gateway device with highest reception quality indicator is selected as master gateway device. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) communication system for wireless communication networks; and (2) communication method for wireless communication network.
