Disclosed are a route generation device for an autonomous vehicle capable of minimizing the zig-zag driving of the autonomous vehicle on unpaved roads with obstacles or on the open fields and a route generation method for the same. Embodiments of the present invention include: a geographical feature sensor unit which collects geographical feature data and obstacle data within a certain range from the current location; an autonomous driving determination unit which generates an obstacle map based on the collected geographical feature data and obstacle data, extracts a driving-available area from the generated obstacle map using the Bayesian probability, and establishes a route plan in a way of selecting the optimum route in the extracted driving-available area using the Markov chain; and a driving control unit which generates control commands to drive an autonomous vehicle along the established route plan. |
