In various embodiments, a tissue thickness compensator (22020, 22120, 22220, 22320, 22520, 22720 22820, 22920, 23120, 23220, 33420, 33350, 23620) can comprise one or more capsules and/or pockets (22024, 22222, 225, 22724, 22824, 22924, 23122, 2322, 33424, 33524, 23627) comprising at least one medicament (22025, 22125, 2255, 2275, 23225, 3345, 33525) therein. In at least one embodiment, staples can be fired through the tissue thickness compensator to rupture the capsules. In certain embodiments, a firing member, or knife, can be advanced through the tissue thickness compcnsator to rupture the capsules.
