<p>Uranium, dissolved in aqueous solutions of alkali metal carbonates (as Na4UO2(CO3)3) is precipitated as UO2 by the action of free hydrogen under pressure in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst. The solution may be heated to 100 to 350 DEG F. and the pressure is preferably at least 20 p.s.i.g. and desirably higher. Catalysts suitable for organic hydrogenation reactions such as powdered nickel or cobalt, or platinum nickel or cobalt gauze may be used. Specification 716,597 is referred to.</p> |
