719,810. Current collectors. CONRADTY, E. K., CONRADTY, P., CONRADTY, M., and CONRADTY, C., [trading as CONRADTY, C., Firm of.]. March 25, 1952, [Dec. 6, 1951.] No. 7654/52. Class 104 (3). A sliding element for a current collector comprises a plurality of carbon or graphite plates d or rows of plates arranged face to face transversely of the direction of travel and with an edge of each plate facing an overhead conductor and the arrangement is such that the plates are secured rigidly together one with the other and are held together by a metal holder c. As shown in Fig. 2 the plates d in each row are staggered in relation to those in adjacent rows. The plates d are cemented together under high pressure with a cement e which is insoluble in water. One or more metal bridges f, Fig. 4, may be fitted into the base of the plates d by pouring molten metal into holes formed in the plates, by shrinking on metal loops, by pressing preformed metal pieces into the plates, by metal spraying or by copperplating. |
