The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus to warn of a brake light failure. According to the present invention, the apparatus comprises: an image output unit to output a top view image of a vehicle; a red color detection unit to detect and output a plurality of red color components from the brake light part of the top view image; an error determination unit to determine the failure of the brake light of the vehicle by using the output differences of the red color components; a failure counting unit to increase a counter of the failure on every failure determination of the brake light according to the error determination unit; and an output unit to show the failure of the brake light to a driver upon reaching a limit value set to the counter of the failure. |
