An insulated shipping container including a inflatable packaging material or liner is disclosed. The liner (10) comprises a plurality of panels each of which is constituted by a number of elongate inflatable tubes. The liner is fabricated by superimposing two sheets of synthetic plastics material and welding the sheets together to form the tubes and other constructional features of the liner. An air inlet valve is connected to the manifold to inflate the tubes. The tubes of most of the panels communicate directly with a manifold. The tubes of the panels communicate with the manifold by way of the interiors of the tubes of other panels. The panels protect the top, bottom and sides the article (A). The package is thermally insulated by the inflated tubes of the liner and a heat reflective shipping container (300) into which the liner and article to be protected are put. The container may be a soft bag utilising aluminised foil. |
