The invention is directed to an oxygen scavenging additive system for polymers, said additive system comprising an oxidisable organic material comprising allyl or benzyl groups, a transition metal catalyst and a fatty acid ester of trimethylolpropane, wherein the fatty acid is a C6 to C18 fatty acid having a linear or branched chain; to polyester compositions containing said additive; and to containers, or preforms for containers, prepared from said polyester composition.
