The elevator is characterized in that the first safety control unit (2) is designed to output a stop signal to the drive (11), in particular to a drive brake (14) and/or to a frequency converter (15) of the drive (11), and in that the second safety control unit (3) is designed to output a trigger signal to the safety brake (16) in order to bring the elevator into a proper safety condition when an inadmissible safety condition is detected.
