An objective of the present invention is to provide a device for detecting communities and a method for detecting communities using the same which can detect an optimal community in a multi-layered graph. According to the present invention, the method for detecting communities allows a community detection device to detect communities, and comprises: a step of deriving a layer importance level for each layer in a multi-layered graph; a step of applying the derived layer importance level to flatten the multi-layered graph; and a step of using the flattened multi-layered graph to detect communities.
