PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can detect poor connection of a path for applying a bias voltage to a fixation film, realize formation of a high quality image, and suppress the generation of electromagnetic interference.SOLUTION: A fixation unit that forms an image by thermally fixing a toner image formed according to an electrophotographic method and transferred onto a recording medium is configured to include a heater electrified by an AC power source, a fixation film that is electrically insulated from the heater while being adjacent to the heater and heated by the heater and on which a bias voltage is applied via a conductive brush, and a pressure roller. An image forming apparatus performs a control by applying a bias voltage via the conductive brush, detecting whether or not the conductive brush is connected to the fixation film by inputting, as a detection signal, via the conductive brush, a current induced by an AC component of the AC power source, which is applied to the heater, and notifying a user on the basis of the detection signal that the fixation unit should be repaired.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
