Provided is a device for controlling a humidifier with which it is possible to discharge any residual charge in a smoothing capacitor by a simple change in a control program for a compressor. The device for controlling a humidifier is provided with: a rectifier circuit for rectifying an alternating-current voltage; a smoothing capacitor for smoothing the voltage rectified by the rectifier circuit to a DC bus voltage; a compressor drive unit for converting the DC bus voltage smoothed by the smoothing capacitor to AC voltage and driving a compressor used for dehumidifying air; a detection unit for detecting the state at which the alternating-current voltage is supplied to the rectifier circuit; and a control unit for starting operation of the compressor in the event that the detection unit has detected an interruption in the supply of AC voltage to the rectifier circuit.
