摘要 <p>A composition for waterproofing fibrous organic material comprises an aqueous emulsion containing, calculated on the weight of the resin, oil and titanate, 20 to 61 per cent of a methylpolysiloxane resin having a CH3 : Si ratio of 1.3 : 1 to 1.7 : 1, 25 to 50 per cent of a methyl polysiloxane oil having a CH3 : Si ratio of 1.9 : 1 to 2.1 : 1 and 7.5 to 40 per cent of triethanolamine titanate. The emulsions may be made (1) by dissolving the siloxane oil and resin in a solvent or mixture of compatible solvents, e.g. carbon tetrachloride, trichlorethylene, methylene chloride, toluene, petrol or decalin, mixing this solution with a solution of the titanate, water and emulsifying agent, e.g. an oleate or stearate of triethanolamine or morpholine, a condensation product of an amide and a fatty acid or a quaternary ammonium salt, and effecting emulsification in known manner, or (2) by preparing a concentrated aqueous emulsion of the oil and resin in the presence of the emulsifying agent, adding the titanate thereto, and diluting with water, when desired, to give a total content of oil, resin and titanate of 1 to 5 per cent (by weight). The emulsions may be used in conjunction with urea- or melamine-formaldehyde resins, preferably in aqueous solution, in the presence of a polymerization catalyst, or in conjunction with another waterproofing agent, e.g. an alkoxypyridinium salt. Examples are given.</p>
