Abstract: [001] A method and process for issuing certificates containing information relating to tradeable commodities. [002] This method involves a system and process for conveying commodity related information by means of a certificate for tradeable commodities, such as agricultural commodities, between participants in a supply chain who are in possession of the commodities to which the certificates relate. The certificate enables purchasers of agricultural commodities to obtain information relating to those commodities beyond what is observable from those commodities. It involves a step of providing certificates which enable access to information related to the commodity to any number of participants in a supply chain network by coordinating the collection, management and dissemination of information pertaining to that commodity; a method by which an administrator sets the conditions for the issuance of a certificate; a method by which some or all of the information purveyed by the certificate may be encrypted so that it may be accessed by some or all of the participants in the supply chain and a method by which the authenticity of the certificate may be verified.
