A needle assembly comprising a needle (130) having a needle shaft (131) moveable between a ready position and a retracted position; and a needle guard (100, 200, 300, 400, 500) comprising two arms (101, 102) and a base (118). The needle guard is slideably mounted on the needle shaft with the needle shaft passing through an aperture (119) formed in the base. The needle guard comprises an elongate member (152). Each of the arms of the needle guard comprises a resilient material and the distal section (107) of at least a first arm (101) of the two arms is configured to move radially inward so that the distal section of the first arm at least partially covers the distal end (156) of the elongate member. |
