A vehicle wheel is automatically balanced when in operation by means of members, such as lead or steel shot 20, freely movable in a confining circumferential channel 12 forming part of the wheel. As shown, the channel 12 may be formed in the base of the rim 10, being covered by a band 14 which is provided with a closure-plug 16 through which the shot is fed into the channel. The channel may also contain a liquid 18, such as ethylene glycol, the viscosity of which is substantially unaffected by temperature changes.
