Closure force is applied to the cavity of a mold, which is completely filled with plastic. Plastic is after-filled, to the extent that the mold expands against the closure force. The plastic is molded under the closure force, then extracted. An independent claim is also included for the equipment used, which has a measurement instrument to determine expansion of the closed mold. This is directed against the closure force. Preferred Features: Expansion is controlled by the advance of a screw. Post-filling is controlled through the expansion movement of the mold. From internal pressure measurement in the cavity, a closure force profile is applied. At locations near an injection gate, greater closure force is applied, than at locations more distant from it. During molding of the plastic product, the closure force is held constant. |
