There is provided an air conditioner and humidity control method whereby indoor air can be conditioned so that a user can sleep comfortably. An air conditioner (1) has an automatic operation mode or other regular mode, and a rest operation mode. The air conditioner (1) comprises an indoor unit (2), an outdoor air-conditioning unit (5), an air supply/humidification unit (4), and a humidity control unit (8f). The indoor unit (2), the outdoor air-conditioning unit (5), and the air supply/humidification unit (4) humidify or dehumidify air and supply the air into a room. The humidity control unit (8f) controls the devices in the indoor unit (2), the outdoor air-conditioning unit (5), and the air supply/humidification unit (4) during the regular mode so that the indoor humidity reaches a first target humidity. The humidity control unit (8f) also controls the devices in the indoor unit (2), the outdoor air-conditioning unit (5), and the air supply/humidification unit (4) during the rest operation mode so that the indoor humidity reaches a second target humidity, which is lower than the first target humidity. |
