<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of predicting a time when an abnormal image is generated which is caused by deterioration of the surface of a latent image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image density sensor 15 that measures image density of a toner image formed on a photoreceptor 11; a linear speed setting unit 202 that controls drive of a photoreceptor motor 113 that transmits rotation drive to the photoreceptor 11 to control the linear speed of the surface of the photoreceptor 11; and a control unit 200 that functions as deterioration degree calculation means for calculating the degree of deterioration of the surface of the photoreceptor 11. The linear speed setting unit 202 changes the linear speed of the surface of the photoreceptor 11, performs toner image forming processing for forming a toner image on the photoreceptor 11 under two or more conditions with different linear speeds, and measures image density of the toner images formed under respective conditions with different linear speeds by the image density sensor 15. The control unit 200 compares image density of the toner image formed under respective conditions with different linear speeds, and calculates the degree of deterioration of the surface of the photoreceptor 11 on the basis of the difference in image density. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
