PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate resin having excellent light resistance, transparency, color tone, heat resistance, thermal stability, and mechanical strength.SOLUTION: The polycarbonate resin is obtained by polycondensation of a dihydroxy compound including a dihydroxy compound having in a portion of its structure, a site represented by the following general formula (1) and a carbonic diester represented by the following general formula (2) in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst is a compound including at least one metal selected from the group consisting of lithium and Group 2 in the long-period periodic table. An amount of the compound including the metal is, as an amount of the metal, 20 μmol or less per 1 mol of the dihydroxy compound, and further an aromatic monohydroxy compound is contained in an amount of 700 weight ppm or less. (However, in the general formula (1), a case where the part is -CH-O-H is excluded.) |
