A method in a user equipment for handling a scheduling request is provided. The user equipment comprises a buffer. The user equipment cancels the pending scheduling request in response to determining that either the scheduling request is accounted for in a buffer status report to be included in a scheduled data transmission to be transmitted to the base station, or all data will be included in a scheduled data transmission to be transmitted to the base station.
