PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery separator to which the strength of a ceramic layer is imparted and which is stable in battery characteristics even when shaped in a thin film form.SOLUTION: A battery separator is arranged by compounding a porous ceramic layer including ceramic fine particles with a support body. The porous ceramic layer includes particles of a platy magnesium compound as the ceramic fine particles, and a microfibrillated cellulose. A platy magnesium oxide produced by baking, at 400-600°C, a platy magnesium hydroxide having a thickness of 0.2 μm or less and precipitated as a result of neutralization of magnesium chloride with a basic component such as ammonia may be used as the platy magnesium compound.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
