PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a minute condensing waveguide that can cause the size of a waveguide to be more minute by using a plasmon waveguide.SOLUTION: A metal layer 103 is provided that is disposed in contact with both side portions of a core portion 102 at a side of a lower clad layer 101 with respect to an upper end portion of the core portion 102. A position in contact with both side portions of the core portion 102 may be arranged at the side of the lower clad layer 101 (lower side) with respect to the upper end portion of the core portion 102. A plasmon waveguide is constituted of a waveguide by the core portion 102 in an area where the metal layer 103 is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
