PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the generation of a defective image.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus can execute a full-color mode of allowing an intermediate transfer body to contact with a plurality of image forming units and forming a toner image with the plurality of image forming units; and a first monochrome mode of allowing the intermediate transfer body to contact with the plurality of image forming units and forming a toner image only with one image forming unit among the plurality of image forming units. When a monochrome image is formed after a full-color image, the image forming apparatus forms the monochrome image by the first monochrome mode. In the first monochrome mode, the image forming apparatus controls the electric potential difference between an image carrier of an image forming unit other than the one image forming unit among the plurality of image forming units and development means, on the basis of at least one of the process speed of the image forming apparatus, the temperature and humidity environment, the ratio of toner to a developer, and the number of recording materials having an image formed thereon by the development means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6 |
