START-UP METHOD OF OCEAN CURRENT POWER GENERATION DEVICE AND START-UP CONTROL DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an ocean current power generation device mounted with a pitch angle fixed blade to be smoothly started up.SOLUTION: An ocean current power generation device comprises: a mechanical brake which regulates rotation of a rotor shaft of a blade; and a power transmission mechanism which is installed between the rotor shaft and a generator. The power transmission mechanism has: switching means which switches between a power transmission state and a power transmission shutoff state; load applying means which applies a rotational load to the rotor shaft when the same is in the power transmission shutoff state; and transmission means which transmits a rotation speed of the rotor shaft to the generator by varying the rotation speed when the rotor shaft is in the power transmission state. The ocean current power generation device: releases the mechanical brake with the power transmission mechanism switched to the power transmission shutoff state (S10); increases the rotation speed of the rotor shaft while applying the rotational load to the rotor shaft (s20); starts rotation of the generator by switching the power transmission mechanism to the power transmission state (S30); increases the rotation speed of the generator (S40); and starts power generation by connecting the generator to a system power supply (S50).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
