PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for efficiently cooling a passenger compartment by applying air cooled in a heat exchanger from a galley compartment to the passenger compartment when the demand for cooled air in the galley compartment is reduced.SOLUTION: A cooling system 100 for use with a galley monument 104 having a galley compartment 102 includes a heat exchanger 120 supplying cooled air to the galley compartment. An airflow supply and return system 130 has a supply duct 132 that couples the heat exchanger in flow communication with the galley compartment. A diverter mechanism 134 is positioned within the supply duct for controlling the flow of the cooled air. The diverter mechanism is movable between a first position, in which the cooled air flows from the heat exchanger through the supply duct to the galley compartment, and a second position, in which the cooled air from the heat exchanger is discharged from the supply duct to a passenger compartment of an aircraft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
