PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide modified means for producing recombinant BMP and other TGF-β family proteins in vitro, using prokaryote hosts and eukaryote hosts.SOLUTION: Provided is a latent TGF-β family member fusion protein competent to refold under suitable refolding conditions, comprising an N terminal-truncated TGF-β family protein and a cleavable, modified leader sequence, where the N terminal-truncated TGF-β family protein comprises C terminal seven cysteine domain comprising a finger 1 subdomain, a finger 2 subdomain and a heel subdomain, the leader sequence is operably linked to the C terminal domain and inhibits the biological activity associated with the C terminal domain, and the C terminal domain is activated on the cleavage of a part or all of the leader sequence.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
