PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved system for large scale production of protein and/or polypeptide in cell culture.SOLUTION: The invention relates to an improved system for large scale production of protein and/or polypeptide characterized by cell culture, particularly, characterized by at least one of the following (i)-(v): (i) the cumulative amount of amino acids per unit volume is higher than about 70 mM; (ii) the molar ratio of cumulative amount of glutamine to that of asparagine is less than about 2; (iii) the molar ratio of cumulative amount of glutamine to that of total amino acids is less than about 0.2; (iv) the molar ratio of cumulative inorganic ions to total cumulative amino acids is about 0.4-1; and (v) the combined amount of cumulative glutamine and cumulative asparagine per unit volume is higher than about 16 mM.SELECTED DRAWING: None
