PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wrong decision on whether an object has been touched or not occurring from any variation in electrostatic touch panel characteristics due to temperature changes arising from a temperature difference between the electrostatic touch panel and the would-be touched object.SOLUTION: A touch detecting device 3 is equipped with an electrostatic capacitance detector 4 that detects the electrostatic capacitance of an electrostatic touch panel 1, a touch determining unit 6 that determines whether or not a would-be touch object has been actually touched by comparing an electrostatic capacitance detected by the electrostatic capacitance detector 4 with a threshold, a characteristics variation detector 7 that detects any variation in characteristics in a touch detection range of determination of touch presence by the touch determining unit 6 out of the electrostatic touch panel 1, and a threshold controller 5 that controls, if any characteristics variation in the range of touch detection by the characteristics variation detector 7 is detected, controls the threshold according to the characteristics variation.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
